Project Description
Design Team Ink was engaged by Byron Shire Council to explore opportunities and broad concepts for development of an off-leash dog recreation area at the Mullumbimby Recreation Grounds. The proposed dog park will offer a place for people and dogs of many types and sizes to recreate in a safe, accepting and secure setting. The dog park is supported by facilities which allow people and their dogs to not only exercise but to also ‘play, socialise and stay’. The project acknowledges the mutual social and health benefits of dog ownership identified in many studies: dog with dog, person / people with dogs and people with each other. Making safe spaces for these interactions adds value to the recreational, social and amenity value of a place.
The Dog Park will be a safe and inviting place for dog guardians to legally exercise, play, socialise and stay with their dogs off-leash in a secure environment. It will exude good vibes reflecting the eclectic and accepting nature of the Mullumbimby community.
